The Ministry of Commerce, Trade and Industry has developed a comprehensive Quick Guide for Non-Traditional Exports (NTEs) to support Zambian exporters and entrepreneurs in accessing international markets. This guide outlines the steps, procedures, and regulations for exporting non-traditional goods, such as plant products, chemicals, wood, and precious stones, beyond the country’s traditional reliance on minerals like copper and cobalt.
Minister Chipoka Mulenga encouraged citizens to utilize the guidelines, which aim to diversify Zambia’s exports, enhance competitiveness, and improve economic resilience. The guide addresses challenges such as market access barriers and global economic fluctuations and highlights the unique attributes of Zambia's non-traditional goods for preferential global markets.
The Quick Guide, developed through consultations with public and private stakeholders, is available in brochures and on the Zambia Trade Information Portal. Permanent Secretary Lillian S. Bwalya acknowledged the contributions of USAID Africa Trade+ and the Enhanced Integrated Framework (EIF) in developing the guide, which directly benefits export managers, freight forwarders, and other personnel involved in export documentation.
